Optimising the aircraft utilisation and maintenance planning can save millions of francs. With a tighter integration of the planning stages and better algorithms, the savings were significantly increased.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Successes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>We convinced the management to start a reengineering project to automate the planning steps further and integrate them better into the overall planning flow. For this purpose we created a business case as well as built and demonstrated a prototype for a scheduling algorithm. We successfully completed the development and implementation.\u00a0Using a modern modular software architecture and clearly defining domains and boundaries, we significantly accelerated the software development.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As project manager and software architect we:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analysed the business processes and operating procedures and elicited the requirements of the stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Defined the approach to replace the existing modules.<\/li>\n<li>Designed the solution (software architecture, data model, functionality, user interface, interfaces).<\/li>\n<li>Co-developed automatic planning algorithms based on linear programming.<\/li>\n<li>Led a software development team.<\/li>\n<li>Implemented a new planning platform with the modules &#8220;Flight Scheduling&#8221; and &#8220;Aircraft Assignment&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinated the testing and documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Keywords<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aircraft Assignment and Reassignment<\/li>\n<li>Flight Scheduling<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance Planning<\/li>\n<li>Software Architecture<\/li>\n<li>Object Oriented Design and Development<\/li>\n<li>Operational Research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><em>Remark: We performed the above-mentioned activities as employee at a former employer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Initial Situation\u00a0The fix costs are particularly high in aviation.
